Dashain Utsav takes off

Kathmandu, September 29:

The 10-day long Dashain Utsav, being organised by Everest Events and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, at the Bhrikuti Exhibitions Ground kicked off today targeting consumers on the eve of Dashain festival. Ten personalities representing various media and business houses jointly inaugurated the Dashain Utsav.

At the consumer-oriented fair, various goods are being displayed under one roof and will serve as an effective place for buyers and sellers and to boost business activities, said organisers of the function. Speaking at the inaugural function, Chandi Raj Dhakal,

president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said that the exhibition of this kind is a great help for ‘buyers and sellers’ and to boost business activities. It will ultimately encourage businesspersons towards entrepreneurship, said Dhakal at the function. Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), commented that at a time when there are no increase in economic activities and business is going down, organising this fair would help to revive hopes of businesspersons.

Shrestha said that the government has to seek alternative exhibition centres besides Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Ground on a permanent basis, to keep the exhibition business going in a consistent manner. Informing about the exhibition, Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, executive chairman of Everest Events and Exhibition said a total of 160 exhibitors have displayed their products at the fair that includes garments, latest quality products, home appliances and consumer electronics. Similarly, cultural and entertainment programmes such as Lok Dohori concert, musical programmes and fashion shows are also being held on the sidelines of the exhibition, informed Rajkarnikar.

At the function, president of FNCCI Dhakal felicitated five women entrepreneurs namely Ambika Shrestha, Shanti Chaddha, Chandra Kala Subba, Angdali Sherpa and Shyam Badan Shrestha.
