Dhading farmers sell goats worth Rs 250 million during Dashain
DHADING: Commercial goat farmers of Siddhalake Rural Municipality in Dhading district have sold cattle worth Rs 250 million during Dashain, the greatest festival of Hindus, this year.
Farmers of the region associated with the Upahar Women Agriculture Co-operative earned a profit by supplying 1,780 goats in the market during the festive season.
"The income generated by the local women has sent a positive message regarding commercial goat farming to the neighbouring villages in the district," Kamala Sharma, deputy chief of the rural municipality, said.
Sunita Silwal, Chairperson of the Co-operative, said, "Farmers associated with the organisation pocketed at least Rs 200,000 after selling around 1,780 goats during the Dashain festival."
The Co-operative is supported by Heifer International and Prayas Nepal in co-ordination with Siddhalake Rural Municipality in the district.
Currently, there are more than 1,174 members associated with the organisation.
