Chitwan, January 11

President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) Pashupati Murarka has said that economic revolution is the need of the country at this hour.

Inaugurating the 49th annual general meeting of Chitwan Chamber of Commerce today, President Murarka stressed on the need for an economic revolution at a time when the political transition had ended and a new constitution had been promulgated in the country.

“The months-long blockade at the Nepal-India border points has hit the country’s economy hard. The government should also consider waiving the interest charged on bank loans,” he added.

“Entrepreneurs are ready to pay the taxes for the businesses that they have conducted. But the government needs to create a conducive atmosphere for the entrepreneurs,” he said. He was of the opinion that the internal problems of the country should be resolved internally. “Hence, a decisive dialogue needs to be held between the agitating parties and the government at the earliest without any foreign intervention,” he said.

Chief Editor Binod Babu Rijal of Kayakairan daily was also felicitated with the Economic Journalism Award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000 at the programme.
