KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 13
Supply of electricity has been obstructed in Chandragiri Municipality since Saturday afternoon following a technical glitch in the 132 kV Matatirtha Substation's power transformer.
With problem occurred in the power transformer of 22.5 MVA capacity in the 132- 11 kV substation, around 5,000 households in Matatirtha area have faced disruption in power supply.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has made arrangements for alternative power supply by transferring the load of Matatirtha and Satungal feeders used for local power supply from the substation to Thankot and Balambu feeders, respectively.
However, since Thankot and Balambu feeders are unable to meet the demand of that area, NEA has only been able to partially supply power to the area.
Meanwhile, as an alternative arrangement, 'back supply' has been taken from Kanakot in Dhading and power supply has been managed from today by extending the Thankot feeder.
The authority will remove the non-functioning transformer and replace it with a transformer from Bhaktapur substation, which will take a few days.
The authority is replacing two out of three transformers of 22.5 MVA in Bhaktapur substation with 45-45 MVA.
One of the two 22.5 MVA transformers there will be taken to Matatirtha substation, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority.
