Farmers benefit from ginger

Farmers in Myagdi district have been successful in taking benefits from ginger candy. Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Myagdi is helping them process the ginger to make candy.

Farmers of Rakhu Piple, Bhagawati, Ghatan and Kuhu VDCs have been earning more than Rs 30,000 annually after they started selling ginger candy, said Rudra Prasad Sharma, an entrepreneur.

More than seven quintals of ginger is grown in one ropani of land instead of growing millet. “The farmers sell the candy at Rs 350 after processing ginger that is sold at Rs 40 a kg.”
