KATHMANDU, MAY 28
Minister of Finance Barshaman Pun has started presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS at the joint meeting of the federal parliament.
Earlier today, the joint session of Parliament scheduled for 1 pm was postponed two hours later, i.e. 3 pm.
The opposition parties including the Nepali Congress had blocked the House demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee on the misappropriation of cooperative funds.
The deadlock in the parliament has ended after the major parties reached an agreement on the formation of the committee and its terms of reference.
In accordance with Article 119 of the Constitution of Nepal, 2072, the government is required to present the annual budget in a joint meeting of the federal parliament.
