Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI) is organizing First Prabhakar SJB Rana Memorial Lecture to be held on Sunday.

To celebrate his legacy and contribution of Late Mr. Prabhakar SJB Rana to the economy and nation, NICCI is organizing the Prabhakar SJB Rana Memorial Lecture: Celebrating Leadership, Vision, and Legacy, on March 9, 2025, said NICCI President Sunil KC.

Late Rana is the founder President of NICCI. Rana not only founded NICCI, but also founded many business and social associations including Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN), PATA Nepal Chapter, Nepal Heritage Society.

"NICCI is honored to remember Rana as a visionary leader, entrepreneur, and trailblazer in Nepal's overall business, hospitality sector, industry and hydropower," KC added.

Industry Minister Damodar Bhandari has consented to be the Chief Guest and Energy Minister Deepak Khadka has consented to be the Guest of Honor in the First Prabhakar SJB Rana Memorial Lecture.

NICCI has invited the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and former Chief Economic Advisor to the government of India Dr. Krishnamurthy Venkata Subramanian as a keynote speaker in the first Prabhakar SJB Rana Memorial Lecture.

Dr. Krishnamurthy Venkata Subramanian was appointed Executive Director at the IMF in 2022. Prior to the IMF, he was the Chief Economic Advisor to the government of India. Born in Chhattisgarh, Dr. Subramanian is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology of Kanpur and IIM Calcutta. He received his PhD in financial economics from University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Dr. Subramanian has worked in expert committees for Securities and Exchange Board of India and the Reserve Bank of India, being a part of major economic and corporate reforms in India. He was Member and Director of Research, P J Nayak Committee on Governance of Bank Boards formed by RBI and was also a member of Uday Kotak Committee on Corporate Governance in SEBI. He has worked with JP Morgan Chase, ICICI Bank and Tata Consultancy Services. He was a member of board of directors in Bandhan Bank. He was also a member of the board of directors in the National Institute of Bank Management and the Reserve Bank of India Academy.

NICCI is also launching a Book "Business Climate Survey for Indian Companies in Nepal, 2024", on this program.
