KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 1
President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that economic issues remain sidelined in the manifestos of major political parties.
Speaking at a program titled "Economic Agenda in Party Manifestos", organized by the Nepal Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ) in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dhakal said political parties tend to focus on criticizing rivals rather than presenting clear economic agendas.
He noted that private sector development and economic priorities have not been adequately addressed in party manifestos. Dhakal also expressed concern that political leadership has failed to properly recognize the contribution of the private sector to the national economy.
According to him, the economy cannot grow sustainably without state support and protection for the private sector.
