SURKHET: Mugu has been facing a food shortage due to flight delay at Birendranagar airport. Planes have been unable to fly to the district for the past two weeks. The flight delay has also stranded in Birendranagar passengers who are flying on subsidized tickets. According to Mugu Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the district is reeling under food shortage. Over the past one month, not a single flight has been able to transport food from Surkhet to Mugu, the district-based businessmen’s umbrella body said. Earlier, Mugu locals had launched an agitation demanding subsidized air tickets and subsidized cargo of foodstuff once a week. They later called off the protest following assurances by the stakeholder to fulfill their demand.
