KATHMANDU: The Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT) began construction of a fumigation chamber at the Bagbani Development Centre, Kirtipur on Monday.

Laying the foundation stone, PACT Director Indra Kant Jha informed that the Project constructed the chamber in order to save the products from pest and export best quality products.

Wood and wood products along with coffee will be stored in the chamber to remove the pests in a scientific way, informed Senior Monitoring Officer Yam Kumar Shrestha.

Shrestha, however, informed that the chamber cannot store food products like fruits and vegetables.

PACT Account Under-Secretary Ram Babu Puri said that the chamber will be constructed in next 15 months and will be handed over to the related government offices.
