Gionee Marathon M5

KATHMANDU: Gionee, a leading manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, has brought a new smartphone model in the Nepali market — the Gionee Marathon M5.

The M series of Gionee is mainly focused on battery performance and the Marathon M5 is the latest addition to this series, as per the press statement issued on Monday.

It is Gionee’s only dual-battery model. The phone comes equipped with two batteries totalling a capacity of a whopping 6020 mAh. Gionee believes that Marathon M5 will eliminate the problem of having to constantly charge a smartphone, which is a hassle users have had to put up with. Gionee claims that the M5 will provide up to 1,185 hours of standby time and up to 57.5 hours of phone call time; and up to 14 hours of web browsing and watching videos.

The phone also has an extreme power saving mode under which, even at five per cent battery, users can get 32 hours of standby time and three hours of phone call time. The M5 comes with dual charging chips and a 9V-2A charger which will allow it to be charged extremely fast. The M5itself can charge two other smartphones at the same time via OTG reverse charge. The M5 is a dual-SIM (4G+4G) phone.

It has an ultra-slim, metallic unibody and boasts a 5.5-inch HD (1280x720) AMOLED screen. The rear camera is 13MP and the front camera is 5MP. As for memory, the M5 has 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128GB) and 2GB RAM.

The M5 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and runs on Amigo 3.1, Gionee’s own software based on Android 5.1. The Gionee M5 is priced at Rs 29,999.
