Global meet on biogas tech begins

KATHMANDU: An international conference on biogas technology kicked off from today

in the capital.

Nearly 150 energy experts from 25 countries including Nepal, India, China, America, Singapore, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Rwanda, the Netherlands, Uganda and Cambodia

are taking part in the

conference that will run till Thursday. It is organised by SNV (a Netherlands aid agency).

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to address the special function to be organised by BSP Nepal on the final day of the conference to mark the installation of 200,000 biogas plants in Nepal. The President will award different organisations and personalities for their contributions to the promotion of biogas technology in the country. SNV is providing support for the development of biogas technology and its expansion in Nepal since 1992.

Meanwhile, another international meet, ‘Renewal energy for sustainable development’ will begin here tomorrow. It is organised by Nepal Solar Energy Society and Korea-based Ecosian Company Ltd. jointly. Forty-two research papers on renewal energy will also be presented in the conference.
