Gold price surged to a new all-time high in the domestic market on Monday, rising by Rs 4,200 per tola to reach Rs 282,000 per tola.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, fine gold was traded at Rs 277,800 per tola on Sunday. With the latest increase, gold has continued its upward momentum into the Nepali month of Magh, further pushing up costs for consumers.
Previously, gold had touched a record high of Rs 278,000 per tola on Poush 30, the last day of the Nepali month of Poush.
Meanwhile, silver price also rose sharply on Monday. Silver increased by Rs 185 per tola to trade at Rs 5,810 per tola, up from Rs 5,625 per tola on Sunday, the federation said.
