New record high as price rises by Rs 1,000 in a single day

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 8

The price of gold in Nepal has surged to a new record, nearing the Rs 200,000 per tola mark.

On Sunday, fine gold rose by Rs 1,000 per tola, reaching Rs 199,400, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association. This puts the yellow metal just Rs 600 short of the significant Rs 200,000 milestone.

Today's rate surpasses the previous record of Rs 198,400 per tola set on Thursday.

Silver prices also edged higher, rising by Rs 10 per tola from Thursday's Rs 2,315 to Rs 2,325.
