KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 23

The government has honoured the highest taxpayers of the country in the fiscal year 2021-22 under different categories on the occasion of the National Tax Day.

Organised by Inland Revenue Department (IRD), the top companies in 16 categories were felicitated amidst a programme held here today.

IRD has classified the highest taxpayers as per individual, industry, agriculture, financial sector, insurance, tourism and trade categories, among others.

Among the companies, Surya Nepal was announced as the highest taxpayer in the last fiscal year.

Similarly, Vijay Kumar Shah was the top taxpayer under the individual category. Shah is the group chairperson of Jawalakhel Group of Industries.

Likewise, Shree Shiva Shakti Ghee Udyog was honoured for being the highest taxpayer among the exporters and Nepal Telecom for becoming the highest income tax paying company.

Among the cooperatives, Chhimek Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd bagged the highest taxpayer award, while Nabil Bank was honoured among the commercial banks.

Similarly, Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd was felicitated among the insurance companies, while IME Ltd among money transfer and remittance companies.

In the commodity trade, Hansraj Hulaschand & Co Pvt Ltd was the highest taxpayer and Manakamana Darshan was honoured among the tourism enterprises.

Chilime Hydropower was to top taxpayer among the energy-related industries, while Rajesh Metal Crafts clinched the award in the special industry category.

Other companies to be felicitated were Gorkha Brewery (highest payer of value added tax), Nobel Medical College (among health and educational institutions), OCB Foods and Feeds (among agricultural and livestock industries) and Nepal Stock Exchange Ltd (among medium level taxpayers).

Meanwhile, the revenue department also awarded 10 of its outstanding employees for best performance on the occasion.
