Government floats 3,479 MW hydroelectric scheme, IPO open
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli applied for 10,000 shares of the Trishuli III 'B' hydropower project marking the official launch of government's 'people's hydroelectricity programme' on Thursday.
PM Oli applied for the shares at a programme organised by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at his residence in Baluwatar, this morning.
With this, the general people can now apply to acquire shares of the project at 10 per cent of par value in application fees till March 25.
Earlier, the government had announced the scheme "Nepal's Water, People's Investment" on February 13, 2019.
Speaking at the ceremony, the prime minister voiced for an accumulation of people’s capital on a small scale to help completion of big projects.
“Nepal is rich in energy and proper utilisation of available water resources is awaited," PM Oli said calling all Nepali citizens at home and abroad to be a part of the programme.
He also insisted that projects as such should be undertaken without seeking external financial support.
