Govt data collection on unemployed hits snag

NEPALGUNJ:The government’s bid to collect details about unemployed people in Bheri zone has failed to make any headway.

Only 60 persons have filled the forms in three months after the programme was launched.

Among those who have filled the forms at the Employment Information Centre established by Department of Labour in Nepalgunj are youths from Banke.

No one from other districts of the Bheri zone — Bardiya, Jajarkot, Dailekh and Surkhet — has cared to fill the form.

The programme failed to make an impact due to lack of publicity and delay in sending forms to the districts. The government has launched the programme with a view to collecting details about around 45,000 unemployed youths of the zone within the current fiscal year.

It is estimated that there are 500,000 unemployed people in Bheri zone.

The centre said it could not launch any publicity about the program due to delay in budget release by the Department of Labour.
