The government has given the green signal to the Transport Entrepreneurs Problems Resolution Committee, Lalitpur, as the sole institution for consultations on matters pertaining to transport sector.
Decisions on matters pertaining to transport will be taken only after consultations and discussions with the committee, which is constituted with Jaya Kumar Khadka as the convenor, states a press release issued by the ministry of labour and transport management.
The committee has been recognised by the apex bodies of transport entrepreneurs — Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs (FNTE) and National Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs (NFNTE).
The committee is responsible to provide suggestions and recommendations to the government to resolve the prevailing problems in the field of public transport services in order to make it efficient, managed and accountable.
The committee has also been directed to identify various challenges and problems faced by entrepreneurs, workers and users of the public transport service.
It is also to formulate a detailed long-term action plan at the national level for timely improvement of the public transport services and present it to the government.
