HAN eyes Thai market for NTY 2011

KATHMANDU: Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has geared up preparations for Nepal Tourism Year 2011(NTY).

A 70-member HAN delegation is leaving for Bangkok tomorrow to make preparations for Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY) in collaboration with the Nepalese embassy in Thailand and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

HAN is also organising a Nepal Night in Bangkok on Tuesday to promote destination Nepal amidst prom-inent hotel entrepreneurs, travel agents, tour operators, prominent locals, international media personalities and high government officials of Thailand.

The programme will be jointly inaugurated by Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari and Thailand’s Tourism Minister. It will focus on promoting Nepal Tourism Year 2011 and on meeting the target of bringing one million tourists to Nepal in 2011, said HAN president Prasidha Bahadur Panday.

The objective of the programme is also to highlight the importance of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 among Thai travel agents, tour operators and media, he said adding that Prachanda Man Shrestha, chief executive officer of NTB, will also make a presentation on

the theme — a million tourists in Nepal Tourism Year 2011. The presentation will focus on promotional activities that will be carried out during NTY.

Minister Bhandari, Thailan’s Tourism Minister, Nepal’s ambassador to Thailand Naveen Prakash Jung Shah, acting governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, senior vice-president of Asia Pacific, Thai Airways officials and chairman of PATA International will take part in the fair.

On Wednesday, prominent travel agents & tour operators of Thailand will have Business to Business (B2B) Meeting with Nepali hotel entrepreneurs.
