KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 13

The Heifer International Nepal has delivered essential medicines for treating lumpy skin disease (LSD) affected animals in Dolakha district.

Approximately Rs 300,000 worth of 16 different types of medicines were provided to Melung and Tamakoshi Rural Municipalities.

Dr Rajendra Dhakal, animal development officer of HeiferProject Nepal, mentioned that they provided the medicines in response to the rural municipalities' request due to the LSD outbreak in Dolakha and coordinated efforts with local support organisations and technicians.

Hira Thokar, chairman of Melung Rural Municipality, shared that they had spent approximately Rs 1.3 million on treatment and discussed relief measures for affected animals.

Tirtha Raj Regmi, country director of Heifer International Nepal, said that this initiative aims to enhance agriculture and animal husbandry in the region through collaboration between the rural municipalities and Heifer Project Nepal.

"In response to the LSD outbreak, we provided medicines and supplies, extending our support not only to Sindhuli, where our Milky Way Project is ongoing, but also to more than 20 rural municipalities in 13 additional districts."
