High-level AIIB representative to attend investment summit

Beijing, February 26

Chief Executive Officer of Investment Board Nepal Maha Prasad Adhikari, met with President Jin Liqun of China-headquartered Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in Beijing today.

As per Nepali Embassy in Beijing, Adhikari briefed Jin on the upcoming Nepal Investment Summit, and expressed the confidence that AIIB’s support will be crucial in Nepal’s socio-economic development.

Jin assured that AIIB would continue to lend its full support to Nepal’s development endeavours, adding that there would be senior level representation from AIIB at the Nepal Investment Summit being held in March.

Officials present in the meeting said the AIIB president has pledged funding for projects forwarded by Nepali government.

According to Adhikari, the AIIB president assured of cooperation in Nepal’s development programmes and also of high-level participation at the investment summit. Adhikari and Jin also held discussions about the existing projects.

Meanwhile, Adhikari also addressed the Pre-Investment Conference organised by the Embassy of Nepal in China on Monday.

Established in early 2016, AIIB has a total of 93 approved members worldwide.

The AIIB invests in Asia and beyond with special attention to sustainable infrastructure and other productive sectors.
