Biratnagar, February 15:

Hulas Metal Crafts, Biratnagar, has been shut down, according to Biratnagar labour office.

The workers lodged a complaint at the labour office after they found main gate of the factory padlocked on February 5. The labour office has sought clarification from the management of the factory.

Yogilal Yadav, a trade union leader claimed that the labour office has already directed the management to resume operations.

The management of the factory however said the factory was closed after informing the workers. Nearly 100 workers are employed in the factory. The jobless workers are protesting in front of the factory since February 13.

Earlier, Golchha Organisation has — issuing a public notice — also closed Arun Banaspati Ghee Industry at Duhabi citing losses, lack of market, rise in loans and rise in price of raw materials.

Workers have been, however, marking their attendance on the register even though the industry has remained closed for over two months.
