ICAN to add 62 more CAs as members

Kathmandu, February 15

A total of 62 candidates have become eligible to be certified as chartered accountants by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) - the regulatory authority of the country's accounting profession.

As per ICAN, of the 62 certified candidates, 27 students studied in ICAN and 35 completed their studies abroad. The selected candidates had to sit for an exam conducted by ICAN to obtain the membership.

As per ICAN President Prakash Jung Thapa, “Any student who wants to obtain membership of ICAN has to attend and pass the examination conducted by ICAN.”

According to the institute, out of the 729 students who appeared for the Chartered Accountant Professional (CAP) I level test, 488 students were successful. Similarly, 243 out of the 1,428 students who sat for the CAP II test passed the examination and 77 out of 543 students passed the CAP III level test.

At present, there are around 1,300 members at ICAN.
