KATHMANDU, JULY 19

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reiterated the incumbent government's mission to improve the national economy by addressing public despair.

In a discussion with office-bearers of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) today, PM Oli clarified that the new government was formed under his leadership to resolve the country's pertinent issues and undertake transformative initiatives.

PM Oli, also the chair of CPN (UML), emphasized that his assumption of the prime ministerial role was not merely for holding the position but for advancing noble causes. "I have already served as the Prime Minister of this country. I have not taken up this responsibility just for the position but to execute innovative works to contribute to the nation," the PM added.

PM Oli stated that the government has a special interest in and focus on strengthening the economy. "Resolving existing problems and fortifying the economy is the main objective of the current government. I have not just assumed this responsibility," he said, adding, "I am determined to work for change and to solve the problems in the country."

Indicating that the monetary policy introduced by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) would not be harsh, he clarified that the policy should keep the economy moving.

During the meeting, CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal urged the PM, on behalf of the private sector, to prioritize reviving the sluggish economy of the past three years. Agrawal stressed the need to boost the morale of the private sector, noting that the fragile economy should be revived through the monetary policy.
