Int'l Flora Expo footfall to be 7.5 mln; Rs 5.2 mln transacted till today

KATHMANDU: The International Flora Expo 2017 held by the Floriculture Association of Nepal (FAN) in Kathmandu from Thursday has performed the transaction of Rs 5.2 million until this afternoon.

The four-day event has been organised with the slogan ‘Floriculture business for peace, prosperity and healthy environment’ to promote floriculture business in the country, and to discourage flower imports.

Florists from different countries like South Korea, India, China, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, among others are participating in the event, as per FAN.

The event held at the Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall has altogether 99 stalls, of which 28 stalls are occupied by foreign florists.

The expo witnessed the transaction of around Rs 916,000 on the first day and Rs 1.61 million and Rs 2.57 million respectively, on the consecutive days, according to the Expo coordinator and FAN senior vice-President Dilip Badel. He said, around 12,500 people visited the Expo on

He said, around 12,500 people visited the Expo on the first day following 14,950 and 12,600 visitors on second and third days respectively. FAN has estimated that the number of visitors would cross over 7.5 million by the conclusion on Sunday.

As per FAN, domestic florists are showcasing over 450 types of seasonal flowers and cut flowers in the event.

Similarly, exhibitors are also putting on display agriculture equipment and technology, seeds, dry flowers and fertilisers, among others.
