On Saturday, the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Masashi Ogawa, and Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada both are scheduled to attend a programme on ‘Unveiling of Economic Census Monument and Launching of the First National Economic Census’, organised by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

The Japan government and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have been extending a technical cooperation

project to the Nepal government and the agencies since 2016 to plan, programme and implement the National Economic

Census 2018, as per a media release issued by the Japanese Embassy.

Under the project, JICA experts have been dispatched to CBS, CBS staff have attended training courses in Japan and necessary goods and equipment were provided to CBS.

“The embassy hopes the results of this census will be helpful and instrumental in drafting long-term economic policies that will lead Nepal on the path of development,” the release adds.
