The government has appointed Kiran Pandit as Deputy Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank.
A Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to appoint Pandit to one of the two vacant deputy governor positions for a five-year term, based on a proposal from the Ministry of Finance.
The posts had remained vacant since Falgun 24 following the completion of the tenures of former deputy governors Nilam Dhungana and Bam Bahadur Mishra.
Pandit, currently an executive director at the central bank, joined Nepal Rastra Bank in 2005 BS and has served in key departments including bank supervision, regulation of banks and financial institutions, financial inclusion and consumer protection, and the payment systems department.
As per legal provisions, the senior deputy governor assumes the responsibilities of the governor in his or her absence.
The government is yet to fill the remaining vacant deputy governor position.
