KL Dugar Group has provided 17 tonnes of essential food items to flood-affected families in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
The group said the relief materials were handed over to the District Coordination Committee office in Bidur as part of the first phase of its relief initiative. The handover was made in the presence of Homnath Dahal, an administrative officer at the District Administration Office.
The assistance includes rice, lentils, salt, wheat flour, edible oil, biscuits, beaten rice and spices, among other essential food items.
The group said the support was aimed at helping families whose livelihoods and access to basic necessities have been disrupted by the floods that occurred in Rasuwa on Bhadra 10.
It said damage to roads and transportation difficulties caused by the rain and flooding had affected the delivery of relief supplies to the affected areas. Additional relief materials will therefore be delivered in phases as access improves, according to the group.
KL Dugar Group said providing humanitarian assistance to disaster-affected communities was part of its corporate social responsibility and that it intended to continue its support.
The group, established in 1989, is involved in the production and marketing of food products, edible oil, cement and electronic goods in Nepal.
