Koshi flood victims get Rs 300m aid

ITAHARI: Natural Disaster Relief Committee (NDRC), Sunsari, distributed around Rs 300 million to Koshi flood victims till date and it is continuing the process to provide flood victims with compensation of their lost land and crops.

The government is providing the relief to around 7,000 households of Koshi flood victims in various phases in three village development committees (VDCs) which bore the brunt of severe flood in the district.

Assistant Chief District Officer Harihar Dahal said of the earmarked Rs 800 million, the committee has provided around Rs 60 million to the victims on the basis of estimates of crops destroyed.

Another Rs 230 million was given to those whose arable land was damaged due to the flood last year.
