Lalitpur adopts ‘audio-visual’ guide system

Kathmandu, June 24

The Lalitpur Metropolitan City, in coordination with the World Bank, has adopted an audio-visual tourist guide system in various tourist destinations within the metropolitan city.

The new information and technology-based tourism promotion initiative was inaugurated recently by Hari Prasad Dahal, chief administrative officer of Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

The initiative uses a tablet and a headphone placed in different places to guide visiting tourists in the Lalitpur region. The audio-video tourist guide system provides tourists information regarding various tourist places in Lalitpur, popular cultures, traditions and festivals and the facts behind those rituals.

Though this initiative has been adopted in Wards 11, 16 and 22 initially, Lalitpur Metropolitan City aims to adopt this tourism promotion system in all the wards soon.

“The audio-video tourist guide system will be crucial in promoting cultural tourism in the region. It is expected to primarily promote youth tourism,” said Dahal.
