Land acquisition set to begin
Dhangadhi, June 17
District Land Revenue Office Doti has started the process of acquiring 150 ropanis of land for the sub-station of much-awaited West Seti Hydro Project in Talkot of Sikhar Municipality-6, Doti.
Siddharaj Shrestha, first class non-gazetted officer at the land revenue office, said that his office had issued a notice to acquire the land after submitting the report to the District Administration Office (DAO).
According to Shrestha, his office had submitted the details of 150 ropanis of land to the DAO. Chinese Company Three Gorges that has been assigned the duty to construct West Seti had been saying that it would be difficult to sell the power due to lack of electricity transmission line. The government had allocated the budget with an aim to create the environment for the transmission line last fiscal.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the Three Gorges had signed a joint agreement to develop West Seti last year.
With the land acquisition about to kick off, locals are hopeful that the project will start soon. “Though we are not fully confident about the project, the talks about land acquisition has ignited some hope,” said Uddaw Malla, a local of Talkot.
