Land revenue collection up in Pokhara

Pokhara, April 6:

Land transaction has reached an all-time high in Pokhara, raising revenue collection.

According to the Kaski district Land Revenue Office, Rs 197,446,000 land revenue was collected till mid-March of this fiscal year. The figure was Rs. 181,075,000 last year, it said. LRO staffer Rishi Ram Lamichane said increasing urbanization, the trend of selling land after plotting it up, employment and business opportunities and migration have pushed up land transactions in Pokhara. The office has set a target of collecting Rs. 235,865,000 land revenue this fiscal year. “Earlier, we used to collect around Rs 800,000 daily, but from October onwards we are daily collecting around Rs 1600,000 minimum,” said LRO accountant Shamsher KC. Locals said land transactions have tripled of late in Birauta, Malepatan and Sainaik Basti of Pokhara.
