Lanka currency swap
COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s central bank received $1.1 billion from neighbouring India on Thursday as part of a currency swap agreement, in order to shore up its foreign reserves and ease pressure on the local currency.
The US dollars were injected from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Central Bank of Sri Lanka said. It said latest injection was in addition to $400 million received in April under another RBI currency swap facility available to members of SAARC bloc.
