Kathmandu, January 16:

The Leather Footwear and Goods Manufacturers’ Association of Nepal (LFGMAN) will soon organise Leather Goods and Footwear Expo-2009 with the slogan: “Use domestic products, be independent”. The expo will be held from January 26 to February 1 at Rastriya Sabha Griha.

“The expo has been conducted since the last five years and the sixth edition will consist of a variety of domestic leather footwear and manufacturers at the same spot,” said Hom Nath Upadhyay, second vice-president at LFGMAN.

Nepal has been producing leather footwear for more than a decade and set a benchmark in the domestic market.

According to the expo organising committee, the seven-day expo will boost the morale of manufacturers of leather footwear and promote domestic products.

“It will also bring different raw material producers and related businessmen to the same spot, which will be beneficial for the industry,” the organisers said.

“The Leather Goods and Footwear Expo this year will put on display leather goods and also footwear.

We have plans to rope in the maximum number of raw material suppliers,” Upadhyay said.
