Hemp destroyed
BARDIBAS: Police have destroyed illegal hemp plantation on one bigha of land in Mahottari district. The district police office said the illegal hemp plantation in wards 4 and 6 of Ankar VDC had been destroyed. Superintendent of police Sanjayaraj Sharma said they have launched a campaign to destroy illegal hemp plantations in the district.
Contraband seized
PARSA: A revenue investigation team seized tobacco products and cement brought in illegally from India. Revenue Investigation Officer Rajan Khadka said they checked the truck (Na 2 Kha 1606) at Pathaliya on Tuesday night on suspicion of evading revenue. The seized products are under investigation, he said. Meanwhile, a team of Armed Police Force seized 350 sacks of cement smuggled in from India. The APF handed over the cement to revenue officials for investigation.
Fire guts property
RAJBIRAJ: Goods and property worth Rs 1.2 million were destroyed when fire gutted nine houses belonging to five families at Tilathi VDC in Saptari district on Wednesday morning. The fire broke out from a campfire at the house of Jhabarlal Yadav at Belhitol, Tilathi VDC-8. Police said two houses belonging to Jhabar, two houses of Dev Narayan Yadav, two houses of Shiva Narayan Yadav, two houses of Mithileshwar Yadav and one house of Sushil Yadav were destroyed in the fire. The blaze was controlled with the help of Armed Police Force, local residents and a firefighters.
