Agni Group expands electric mobility footprint beyond major urban centres
KATHMANDU, JANUARY 21
Agni Aastha Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Agni Group and the authorised distributor of Mahindra vehicles in Nepal, has officially launched Mahindra's Electric Origin SUVs - BE 6 and XEV 9e - in Chitwan, marking a major step toward expanding electric mobility in regional markets.
The launch event, held at Hotel Siraichuli, Bharatpur, was attended by Chiranjibi Subedi, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chitwan, Cabinet Shrestha, Chairman of Agni Group, and Chaitanya Kagalkar, Country Manager of Mahindra & Mahindra, along with EV enthusiasts, customers and media representatives.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Cabinet Shrestha outlined Agni Group's long-term vision for sustainable electric mobility in Nepal, while Kagalkar presented Mahindra's global Born Electric Vehicle (BEV) roadmap and advanced EV technology.
The BE 6 and XEV 9e are built on Mahindra's INGLO Electric Origin Architecture and powered by MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture). The BE 6 offers a certified range of 543 km, while the XEV 9e delivers up to 656 km, supported by advanced LFP battery technology and an 8-year/200,000 km battery warranty.
The XEV 9e, recently awarded Green Car of the Year 2026 at the Indian Car of the Year awards, features a triple-screen digital cockpit, augmented-reality heads-up display, and ADAS Level 2+ safety systems. The BE 6, meanwhile, targets performance-focused users with a sportier design and race-ready digital cockpit.
According to Agni Group, the Chitwan launch is part of a broader plan to roll out Mahindra's Born Electric lineup across Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Itahari and other regional centres, making advanced EV technology more accessible nationwide.
Prices start at Rs 57 lakh for the BE 6 and Rs 69 lakh for the XEV 9e, with bookings now open for all variants.
Company officials said the expansion reflects growing consumer interest in clean mobility and Nepal's broader push towards sustainable transport and energy independence.
