Microsoft’s next generation Windows in offing

Microsoft (MS) is to put out the first test version of its next generation Windows operating system on August 3. The new software, which has been known until now by its code name Longhorn, will be called Windows Vista and have the tagline “Clear, Confident, Connected: Bringing clarity to your world”, company said. The new Windows is a key product for Microsoft’s future growth. MS says Windows Vista will be aimed at simplifying digital lives in a world where the Personal Computer and Internet take an ever more central role. “We’ve seen an explosion of information and data, more choices. The challenge is how to find the information I’m interested in,” Windows executive Neil Charney said, “Having that clarity, that view, that vista in front of you is really important.”
