MoAD meet decides to expedite PACT sub-projects
KATHMANDU: An inter-departmental meeting among the Ministry of Agricultural Development officials made six major decisions on Wednesday.
The meeting organised by the Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT) and chaired by the MoAD Secretary Udaya Chandra Thakur came to the agreements to expedite the sub-projects under PACT.
Sub-projects like fruits and flower wholesale market in Chobhar, animal market in Damak and Dhanusha and vegetable market in Katahari and Butwal would be expedited, informed PACT Director Govinda Prasad Sharma.
According to the decision, the sub-projects would be regularly monitored to ensure that quality of the food products is maintained.
For this, a special committee would be formed in consultation of the Agribusiness Promotion and Marketing Development Directorate along with the Directorate of Livestock Market Promotion.
Under the availability of prerequisite facilities, the stakeholders present in the meeting have also expressed their commitment to work as requested.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of a Rapid Bioassay for Pesticide Residue (RBPR) lab, to minimise pesticide residue level in the vegetables, in Birtamod, Lalbandi, Pokhara, Butwal, Nepalgunj and Attariya.
PACT has already purchased the necessary materials and handed them over to the related departments.
