MoALD preparing to build agro markets at all govt levels

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 1

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Padma Aryal has said that the ministry is preparing to build agriculture markets at all three levels — federal, provincial and local levels.

Recalling that agricultural markets were run through cooperative market development programme via agriculture cooperatives to end the problem of non-availability of market for the produce of farmers when she was at Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Aryal said government has envisioned central, state and local markets.

Stating that the programme to modernise agriculture has been taken forward under the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernisation Project, Minister Aryal appreciated the efforts made by various organisations to support the government’s programme.

While inaugurating Thanet Planet Farm today, Minister Aryal said that all people should work jointly for the development of agriculture in a modern way.

Stating that there is a need to develop an environment that respects labour, she said that the culture of respecting labour should be developed now by changing the practice of not respecting farmers.

In the meantime, she also emphasised on promoting organic farming for the development of the agriculture sector in the country.
