Move to instil economic discipline in govt offices

Kathmandu, February 13:

The Finance Ministry is set to extend the integrated fund system to make economic discipline and public expenses transparent.

The Ministry is preparing to enforce the system, being implemented in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts only as a model, in all government bodies. For this, the ministry with financial assistance from the World Bank has prepared public expenses and financial responsibility implementation strategies. The Department of Auditor General had concluded that integrated fund system would help maintain financial discipline in government offices creating positive effect on auditing system. Meanwhile, an interaction on ways to implement the strategies was organised here jointly by the World Bank and Secretariat of Public Expenses and Financial Responsibility under the Finance Ministry. Secretary at the Finance Ministry Rameswor Khanal said the ministry was willing to implement the integrated fund system to make public expenses transparent.

Bindeshwor Upadhaya of the Department of Auditor General said the system would come in handy.
