Marriott's Lifestyle Brand Brings Youthful, Social Hospitality to Durbarmarg

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 13

Moxy Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy's global portfolio, has officially debuted in Nepal with the opening of Moxy Kathmandu, marking a new chapter in the country's lifestyle hospitality segment.

Located in Durbarmarg, one of Kathmandu's key business and entertainment districts, the hotel is around 15 minutes from Tribhuvan International Airport and close to major attractions including Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa and Thamel.

Designed to reflect Kathmandu's blend of ancient heritage and modern energy, Moxy Kathmandu targets young and young-at-heart travelers with flexible social spaces, bold design elements and a community-driven atmosphere.

"Moxy's bold, playful spirit is perfectly suited for a city like Kathmandu, where tradition meets vibrant modernity," said Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International. He said the opening marks Marriott's first Moxy brand in Nepal and its third in South Asia.

The hotel features 101 guestrooms with smart layouts, modular furniture, motion-activated lighting, walk-in showers and 55-inch HD smart TVs. Facilities also include a fitness center and interactive communal spaces designed for social engagement.

Guests are welcomed at The Moxy Bar, which also serves as the check-in counter, and are offered a complimentary handcrafted cocktail. The open lobby includes modern artwork inspired by Nepali culture, along with recreational zones featuring games and communal seating.

Dining options include LA HACIENDA – Barra y Cocina Latina on Level 11, offering Latin American cuisine curated by Mexican chef Martin Hernandez Lopez, and CARIÑO – Terraza Latina, an open-air terrace serving cocktails with views of the Kathmandu Valley.

"Kathmandu is ancient yet modern, vibrant yet laid-back, which makes it a perfect match for Moxy," said Subarna Thapa, Captain of Moxy Kathmandu, adding that the hotel aims to offer guests an experience that connects them directly with the city's energy.

With its opening, Moxy Kathmandu adds a new lifestyle-focused accommodation option for both international travelers and local guests seeking a social and design-forward stay in the capital.
