KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 5
An aircraft belonging to Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), the national flag carrier, was en route to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, from Kathmandu but had to return to Kathmandu midway due to technical problems.
According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, the Director General of Tribhuvan International Airport, the aircraft with the registration code RA 412 took off from TIA at 12:14 am today and returned to Kathmandu at 4:51 am.
The technical issues were reported with its 'Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS)' when it reached Pakistan. This prompted the crew members to divert the flight back to Kathmandu.
The TCAS system is designed to provide alerts to avoid potential risks when another aircraft comes too close during the flight operation.
Airport authorities have assured that alternative arrangements will be made for the passengers on RA 412 to ensure they reach their intended destinations.
