Dutchman gives aid
POKHARA: A Dutch national has provided over Rs 700,000 for the construction of a school building and distribution of educational materials to students in a primary school in Pokhara. Samata Wegnar provided the amount to Annanpurna Primary School, Baidam, for the construction of toilets, walls and repairing the school roof. Wegnar has been providing stationery worth Rs 20,000 to the school students for the last four years, said headmaster Gobinda Prasad Bhattarai.
Project nearly done
MANGALBARE: Construction of Maikhola Small Hydropower Project of 4.5 MW at Godak of Ilam has reached the final stage. Only 20 per cent of the work remains to be done. Though it had been planned to complete the project within a year of its beginning, repeated strikes, shutdowns and natural disasters delayed it, said project chief Birendra Prasad Neupane. The landslide that occurred last year swept away construction materials. It is estimated that the total cost of the project will come to Rs 450 million.
