NRA issues authority to spend Rs 53bn

Kathmandu, August 2

The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has issued authority to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) to spend Rs 53 billion under housing grant.

The Central Level Project Implementation Unit under MoFALD is responsible to distribute the government aid for the reconstruction of individual houses.

NRA Spokesperson Yam Lal Bhoosal informed that disbursement of second and third instalments of housing grant will be expedited as the NRA has already authorised the executing agency to spend the budget. NRA has set the target to distribute all three tranches of government grant to the beneficiaries by the end of this fiscal.

Of the total 724,895 eligible beneficiaries in 31 quake-affected districts, 603,053 have received first tranche. But, only 55,679 beneficiaries have received second instalment and number of beneficiaries that have received third tranche is at paltry 2,797 till date.
