NBL to shift branch

Jhapa, April 1:

The branch office of Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL) at Dhulabari (Jhapa) is going to be shifted due to security reasons. The bank has been providing its service for the last 35 years here.

Dhulabari is one of the important markets for sale of foreign goods in the eastern region.

The largest amount of Indian currency gets collected in the markets of Dhulabari in the eastern region, said Bijaya Dalmiya, chairperson of Mechi Commerce and Industry Association (MCIA).

“Shifting the only branch of NRB from Dhulabari is to put an end to all trade and commerce at Dhularbari,” Dalmiya argued.

Meanwhile, MCIA, issuing a statement on Friday, urged the concerned authorities not to shift the branch.

“As the bank has been providing services to businessmen, government and private offices, entrepreneurs and general public for the past 35 years, the decision of shifting the branch would certainly discourage industrial and business sectors at the present time of conflict in the country,” the press release stated.
