KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 12
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to restore electricity supply to industries whose connections were cut off due to unpaid tariffs.
Chairperson of the NEA Board of Directors and Minister for Energy, Deepak Khadka, announced that the NEA board meeting held today at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation implemented the Cabinet's decision to promptly resume power supply to these industries.
The Council of Ministers recently decided that power lines to affected industries would be reconnected within 24 hours. This decision follows a Cabinet directive issued on Sunday, stating that arrears should be collected within 15 days based on Time of Day (ToD) meter readings.
Minister Khadka emphasized that the NEA must issue invoices for electricity used by industries connected via dedicated feeders and trunk lines.
"If the bills are not issued, action will be taken against the NEA employees responsible. Conversely, if payment is not made as billed, action will be taken against the industrialists," he stated.
