KATHMANDU, APRIL 20
Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is preparing to launch direct flights between Kathmandu and Dhaka in the near future.
The national flag carrier said preliminary work is underway, including a feasibility study being conducted by a subcommittee formed for the purpose. Despite Bangladesh being a neighbouring country, NAC has yet to operate flights to its capital, Dhaka.
According to NAC officials, the move aims to expand international connectivity and address the absence of the national carrier on the route, which is currently served by Bangladeshi airlines and Nepal's private carrier, Himalaya Airlines.
The airline said a final decision on launching the service will be taken based on the study report.
Meanwhile, NAC has expanded its Kathmandu–Delhi service, increasing flights to 10 per week after adding three additional weekly frequencies from mid-March.
The corporation has also formed a task force to study a cargo management system to strengthen its air cargo operations.
