Nepal, B’desh trade ties need shot in arm

Kathmandu, July 27:

Bangladeshi ambassador to Nepal, M Humayun Kabir today underscored the need to increase interactions between Nepal and Bangladesh in order to boost economic relations between the two countries.

Kabir was talking at the launching ceremony of Nepal-Bangladesh Friendship Society (NBFS) in Eastern Nepal at Dharan today.

According to a press statement issued by Embassy of People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Kathmandu, the ambassador was quoted as saying that the friendship society would be significant in contributing to the promotion of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Nepal for achieving economic benefits.

Dr Khalid Husain Haque, is the chairman of NBFS, according to the statement.

A nine member executive committee has been formed in this regard.

Kabir stressed on the need to expand ties between the two countries in various areas like trade, joint venture investment, exchange of business delegation, transit and tourism.

He referred to the geographical proximity between the two countries, enormous goodwill and friendship between the two people and old cultural linkage and similar economic challenges faced by both the countries, said the statement.

Kishore Pradhan, president of Chamber of Industries Morang and member of executive committee of Nepal-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NBCCI) also spoke on the occasion.

Kishor Pradhan said that there is a need to increase the volume of trade and commerce between the two countries.
