NBA interaction held

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) recently organised an interaction seminar here on ‘Cyber Risk and Security’. KMPG in India was the knowledge partner, as per media release. During the programme, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Chiranjibi Nepal said financial sector is more vulnerable than ever due to rise in cyber crime and to mitigate such risks all the stakeholders must work together. He added the central bank was aware of issues relating to cyber crime and it is ready to offer all necessary support and assistance to the banks in Nepal, and also issue necessary directives. NBA President Upendra Poudyal touched upon three categories of activities that financial sector must prepare against cyber crime — baseline protections, information sharing and response and recovery. He added that the central bank has a key role to play on the subject matter and a close cooperation between NRB, law enforcement agencies and banking industry is required.
