KATHMANDU: Nepal Foreign Trade Association (NFTA) has condemned the murder of Sharad Kumar Gauchan — the president of Federation of Contractors Association of Nepal (FCAN).

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, NFTA said that Gauchan’s murder is an attack on the entire private sector doing business in Nepal and has demoralised investors and businessmen. Gauchan was shot dead by an unidentified group in the Capital on Monday.

The association has questioned the logic of paying taxes to the government, when it is unable to provide security to businesses and businessmen, who make a significant contribution to the government coffers.

Meanwhile, NFTA has urged the government to promptly take action against all those involved in the murder of the FCAN president.
